Slooooooooow

I know I haven't had an update in a while but hold tight cause the next post is gonna be a doozy! I have been pretty busy IRL so I had to put WAR on hold for just a bit. The Dwarvenmania will run wild once again....as soon as I get done with this dumb capital improvement paperwork.

Tier 2

My love affair with Tier 2 has to be put aside. I have smelled the flowers of Mourkain Temple and the Marshes of Madness for too long. Last night I hit rank 19 and think it is time to make the push to Tier 3 and join the rest of my guild in the RvR antics there(they really need a healer). So this week I will try not to spend all my time grinding influence while waiting for the queue. I will miss you Tier 2, I am sure I will return soon with an Ironbreaker or Witch Hunter. <3

City Sieges and Scavenged Seeds

The WAR community is all abuzz this morning on the recent Altdorf siege on the Averheim server. Mr. Jacobs does a great job on commenting on this achievement. He lets us all know that they will be reviewing the information regarding the siege. After reading a lot of blog posts and forums regarding the siege I have come to my own conclusion:

Congrats!

It's a pretty big deal to organize that many player to pull off a 7 hour event. They were able to take the city but were unable to slay the king, still a very hefty goal to obtain. Some players are saying that the system is broke or it is due to faction balance. What it comes down to is the fact the players took the initiative to siege that city and were successful. Mythic has put a lot of options before the player and it is always up to the player on how they want to enjoy their game. This can be anything from open RvR to Scenarios to running PQs. The one thing I can only think of to make my experience more enjoyable is a better notification of when keeps in my tier are under attack.

To change gears a little here, I recently switched from cultivation to scavenging on my Rune Priest. Holy gold Batman! I have already jumped to 83 scavenging in one sitting. My inventory has never been more full than ever. I am most definitely going to be rolling an alt just to grow seeds. The only thing I have to worry about is the grueling grind from 1 to 50 cultivating on vendor bought seeds. Now that I am sitting on a little pile of gold what should I spend it all on. I do tend to use money on renown gear but recently I have been mixing renown and PQ influence gear. That stuff just seems to have a lot of toughness on it. At 20 I will be buying my mount for 15g, but what else is there after that?

"The Thing"

Now "The Thing" in question is the good old artifact in Mourkain Temple. I get into a game and first thing I notice is the carrier is sitting by our spawn doing nothing. Now some people believe that turtling is a viable strategy in this scenario. This is a misconception brought to you by our friends at Blizzard. Just because we have "The Thing" doesn't mean we are going to win. Destruction had double our points. If you have "The Thing" please try to make some attempt at killing some guys. Yes you have DoT on you that sucks, but you also have a damage buff and when you kill guys with it we get more points. In order for this strategy to really work well I suggest at least 2 healers on the holder to keep them killing a lot longer.

Now we lost said game and afterwards I was awarded nasty tells. That's right the guy #2 on your healing is the lynch pin in our loss. I am not saying this is the end all be all strategy for murderball, but damn does it work really well. So next time you are out on a scenario and someone provides a strategy, don't flame them, it just makes you look like a close minded jerk.

Of Patch Notes and Murderball

By now everyone in the community knows we have a game update incoming today. Probably the things that stand out to me are the EULA skip, easier reporting of gold spammers, and better chat window. These might seem like minor changes to others, but I'm a huge fan of getting rid of the spammers. It is quite annoying while in a scenario reading some chat and get hit with a wall of blue text selling gold.

Right now I am trucking through some tier 2 content. The chapter 5 public quest in the Marshes of Madness. The elite rewards is the sweet staff, Ancestral Crook. That is a pretty sweet staff for some PQ grinding.

As always getting in the queue for the Battle at Mourkain Temple. It is an absolute blast! As a Rune Priest I get lots of healing practice in, the downside is I don't seem to gain a lot of experience. I don't know if this is because I am lower rank and xp scales or if its based on damage done. In any case my least favorite thing is turtling with the artifact. It gives a damage buff and you get more points if the artifact holder kills people. Give it to the Bright Wizard and let me go nuts. When I have it, I DoT up as many Destruction as I can in hopes of killing them while others are attacking them. Others in the scenario were telling me to stay back but that takes all the fun out of playing the scenario.

WAR has been nonstop fun and I can't wait to get back in there when I get done work! Bricks and Lava!

Welcome to WaR!

Greetings and welcome to Dwarven Invasion! My name is Bodarim and I will be your host on this magnanimous blog. I am a Rune Priest on the Red Eye Mountain Server and part of The Longbeards. We are a primarily dwarven guild with some human and elven allies.

In this blog I plan on writing about my adventures with my boisterous brothers in battle across the fields of war, class advice, and general Warhammer awesomeness. I would love it if you stumble across this blog and find it informative and helpful. As always feel free to comment.
